    rachetting up the dork level:
i reread the entire Harry Potter series over christmas (along with some other books) and started having dreams where i could do magic ("protego" is damn handy too)
and now i am in love with firefly. hardcore. so obsessed. serenity is no. 1 on netflix. and once i become re-employed i will buy the dvd set. ha ha

exciting thing of the week: hitting sephora and buying great skin care items

meanwhile zapruder's class looks interesting. doable.
and i am way overwhelmed with things to do. i love the city because of all the choices but there are waaaay too many things to do and almost all of them involve money. and me not having a panic attack trying to decide what to do...

a primer on eating ny pizza

you want cheese. it's really the only safe bet. (although if you get broccoli you can count it as one of your five a day!)
to obtain a plain cheese slice you say:
        "can i get a slice?"

once getting piece you will see that there is no Parmesan. there will be ,however, oregano, black pepper, salt, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes. sprinkle appropriately.

take a large bite to get rid of the pointy end. then fold the slice in half and toss the paper plate in the trash can.
you are now free to walk the streets eating the pizza, one hand free for a cell phone or flipping motorists the bird.

i facebooked it but now it's time to xanga it.

    my mom's cancer is back.

suck. i'm on the numb/sarcastic phase right now.
and i just want to go about my business pushing it away and not thinking what i can't help but think (is this her last christmas?)

also, my second cousin passed out at breakfast this morning. his girlfriend said there were other signs earlier in the week. his grandfather died of a brain tumor. he's about 27 or so.

and it was pointed out to me that i keep talking about my father in the present tense (oh he loves this movie! we love that kind of cake. we always do that together)

we are a small sickly people us lewis-coulter-stevens-mcmichaels. pray for us when you can.
we are so thankful for past blessings, but blown away by the turn of this weekend's events.

    but it's never lupus...

we played wii the other day at work. I'm kind of in love with it (and my mii was voted the hottest)

I like helping my coffee guy with his English every morning. Today's word: meditation.
We help Kim with her English too. But she learns words like booger and douche.

Meanwhile my roommates and i have been eating well: fancy Italian (complete with view of the lit-up-at-night Statue of Liberty), Cuban food up near Columbia, and yesterday we hit Little Korea for kimchee soup. And i am obsessed with Moaz falafel sandwiches.

It's kind of silly, but Christms in the city is just as magical as all those songs and movies say it is. I love the lights, the store windows, I'm even enjoying Christmas shopping this year (it helps when you're only going to tiny west village boutiques!)

I'll be in the DC area for T-day. I hope your holidays are excellent. I will be enjoying tofurky and my new haircut.
